Kitsap Mustang Club Presents

George & Mary Coombs ~ 1966 Coupe

George's 1966 Coupe

George and Mary Coombs joined the Kitsap Mustang Club in 1989.  George was our Club President in 1992.  The Coombs have taken their pony to as many shows and on as many Mustang road trips as they could.  They are often seen cruising with the Club in local parades.  George always takes part in the Washington State Adopt-a-Highway, Roadside clean-up program, of which KMC is a part of.   Their son-in-law, Phil, also lends a helping hand whenever possible with the Roadside clean-up and other Club activities.  Their son Richard helps our Club out whenever possible as well, and he is a member of Pierce County Mustang Club, of Tacoma.

This fine looking pony is a 1966 Coupe.   It is candy apple red in color, with red pony interior.  It sports a 200 motor with C-4 transmission.  Special features include the Pony interior and a seat belt light.  George and Mary purchased their little red Mustang from Kerr Motors on 4th Street in Bremerton, brand new!   In 1997, the Coombs family worked together to rebuild the engine and Rainbow Auto Body did the paint work.

George states that he is not sure why he held onto this Mustang as long as he did, but he sure is glad he did!  He claims to have found great enjoyment and friends in the Kitsap Mustang Club!   There is also a 1999 Convertible 35th Anniversay Edition in the Coomb's coral.  Sadly, Mary passed away in September, 1999.    Mary will always be remembered by all of the KMC members!
